Good Few Days
Topic: This and That
The last few days have been pretty good. The weather's been great and we've been busy. Wednesday, Larry was home recovering from staff duty, so I got the car. I took Ryan and went on post and visited with a friend, then ran some errands. Not long after I got home, I heard something come through the letter box in the door. IT WAS A LETTER FROM JK ROWLING!!!!! *HUGE Grin, Does Happy Dance!* Not too long ago, I wrote to her. I was thrilled she wrote back. The letter was hand dated and hand signed. It was friendly and personal, addressing different things I'd written in my letter to her. It means a lot to me that she took the time and effort to respond, and to do so graciously. Thank you, Jo! :)
Later on in the afternoon, Larry watched Ryan, and I went for a run. The weather's been absolutely gorgeous lately. It was sunny and warm. There were all sorts of people out and about on the Stray. There were families, couples, groups of teens - some lounging about and some playing sports (cricket and soccer). There were lots of people running.
After I got cleaned up, I took Ryan out to the Stray to run around while Larry went for a run on our treadmill. When we got back, Larry still had a minute left to run. Ryan was fascinated by the treadmill. When Larry was done, he let Ryan take a turn on it. Ryan went nuts and loved it. Scary! :)
Yesterday I got to visit with my friend Andra and her husband, Beau. It was wonderful to see them! (Hi Andra!) Andra and I met while doing community theater in Germany (we acted together in the play, "June Groom"). Andra and Beau got me into karaoke, too. I used to sing pretty regularly while we were doing the play.
I hadn't seen Andra and Beau in years. They came from the States to visit family and friends in Germany and England. I had such a great time during their visit! Ryan and I met them at the shopping center and had lunch at the tea room, Betty's. (Andra took this picture of Ryan during our lunch there.) After that, we walked back to my house, and relaxed and chatted. It was great to catch up. Andra shared her photos from Germany with me and it was a trip down memory lane. Most of the photos were of places I knew. It was neat to be able to revisit them through viewing the photos and talking with Andra.
Later on in the evening, Larry watched Ryan again so I could go run. I love the late evening sun this time of year. It never ceases to amaze me the difference time of day and year make in a place. I ran around the Stray again, but for some reason this time I noticed the scenery more than I did the day before. I apologize because I am terrible when it comes to identifying types of trees. There's a diagonal stretch of tree-lined path through one part of the Stray. The trees are full of bunches of delicate pink blooms, forming a beautiful canopy. During a light breeze, the petals flutter through the air and all around, covering the ground in a soft, light pink carpet. In the wind, it's like a pale pink snow storm, with petals swirling through the air, and purling into puddles near walls and shrubs.
Today Ryan and I took the MHS Shuttle on post. It was much less crazy and Knight-Bus-like this time (and also only a couple of minutes late). However, I had to giggle a little when I looked directly above our seats to see a broom in the luggage rack.
We went to my friend Sarah's house, and had a relaxing lunch outside in her back yard. Ryan enjoyed the change of scenery and I enjoyed being social.
Here are some photos from the last few days. Link to Photo Album Mid May Pics Enjoy! Hope everyone has a good weekend.
